In a significant move towards sustainable urban transportation, the Delhi Government has collaborated with PMI Electro Mobility to introduce the Delhi Electric Vehicle Interchange (DEVi), a fleet of 255 fully electric, 9-meter buses. This initiative aims to enhance eco-friendly public transport options in the capital.

The DEVi buses, manufactured by PMI Electro Mobility, are designed with passenger comfort and accessibility in mind. Each bus features a 23-seat configuration, including six seats reserved for women, a dedicated wheelchair space with automated ramps, and a low-floor design equipped with a “kneeling” mechanism to assist elderly and differently-abled passengers. Advanced features such as real-time diagnostics, automatic passenger counting, and air suspension systems are incorporated to ensure efficient operations across Delhi’s neighborhoods.

This deployment is part of Delhi’s broader vision to transition 80% of its public transport fleet to electric vehicles. Between 2025 and 2026, the city plans to introduce 2,080 electric neighborhood buses, with PMI Electro Mobility supplying a total of 1,456 units. The buses will operate from depots at Kushak Nallah and East Vinod Nagar, strategically located to serve high-demand areas.

Emphasizing gender inclusivity, the DEVi fleet includes women drivers, reflecting a progressive step towards creating more opportunities for women in India’s green mobility ecosystem. Aanchal Jain, CEO of PMI Electro Mobility, expressed pride in contributing to Delhi’s sustainable future, stating, “At PMI, we remain committed to propelling the nation towards a cleaner future and a more environmentally conscious public transport system.”

PMI Electro Mobility, with a presence in 31 cities and over 2,500 electric buses deployed across India, continues to redefine sustainable public transport at scale. The company’s buses have collectively logged over 20 crore green kilometers nationwide. This partnership with the Delhi Government further solidifies PMI’s role in advancing electric mobility solutions across the country.

The launch event was attended by prominent officials, including Delhi’s Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, Shri Harsh Malhotra, Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport & Highways and Corporate Affairs, Shri Pankaj Singh, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Transport, Information Technology, and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, Government of India, along with Members of Parliament and Cabinet Ministers of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
