MG Motor India has officially introduced the Windsor EV Pro, an upgraded variant of its popular electric vehicle, featuring a larger battery and enhanced capabilities. The new model is equipped with a 50.6 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, offering a claimed range of up to 460 kilometers on a single charge, a significant improvement over the previous 38 kWh battery’s 332 km range.
Despite the battery upgrade, the Windsor EV Pro retains its existing powertrain, delivering 136 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque through a front-mounted electric motor. The vehicle’s design remains largely unchanged, with subtle updates including new alloy wheels and the introduction of a new exterior color option.
The interior of the Windsor EV Pro sees enhancements such as a refreshed cabin featuring black and light-colored upholstery options. Notably, the vehicle now includes Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking, elevating safety and driving convenience.
In addition to ADAS, the Windsor EV Pro introduces Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, allowing the car to power external devices or charge other compatible electric vehicles.
The Windsor EV Pro is priced at an introductory rate of ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 8,000 bookings. MG Motor India also offers a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, reducing the upfront cost to ₹12.50 lakh (ex-showroom), with a battery rental fee of ₹4.5 per kilometer.
Bookings for the Windsor EV Pro commence on May 8, 2025. The vehicle is expected to compete with rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV, offering consumers a blend of extended range, advanced features, and flexible ownership options.
