Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced plans to launch two budget electric scooters in fiscal year 2026. The upcoming models aim to make electric mobility more accessible to the country’s growing value-conscious market.

The new scooters will be priced below the existing Vida range, which currently targets the mid- to premium segment. By expanding into the budget category, Hero MotoCorp is looking to tap into a broader customer base and compete directly with affordable EV brands already in the market.

According to company officials, both models will focus on core functionality, including practical range, urban ride comfort, and low maintenance. The aim is to offer reliable EVs suited for daily commuting without inflating costs.

Hero MotoCorp has already established its EV presence with the Vida brand, offering premium electric scooters like the V1. The addition of budget-friendly options will diversify its product portfolio and strengthen its position in India’s rapidly growing electric two-wheeler market.

The new models will be manufactured at Hero’s EV-exclusive facility in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, which has been scaled up for greater production capacity. This facility will also house R&D initiatives focused on cost efficiency and performance optimization for entry-level EVs.

As India pushes toward higher EV adoption rates, especially in urban and semi-urban markets, Hero’s move is seen as a strategic step to align with government targets and evolving consumer demand. The company aims to expand its EV offerings while maintaining its leadership in the two-wheeler segment.
