Tata EV, a leading player in India’s electric mobility sector, has taken a significant step toward accelerating the country’s EV ecosystem with the launch of India’s first 10-megawatt (MW) EV Megacharger stations. The development is aimed at bolstering long-distance travel for electric vehicles across major highways.

The Megacharger stations, strategically positioned along key intercity and freight corridors, are designed to support high-capacity charging for commercial and passenger EVs. Tata EV officials say this initiative will help address range anxiety and enable faster, more reliable EV operations for both logistics and private transport.

Each station can deliver up to 10 MW of power through multiple charging points, significantly reducing the downtime for heavy-duty electric trucks and buses. The stations also support ultra-fast charging capabilities for passenger EVs, offering a boost to India’s ambition for a sustainable and green transportation future.

The company emphasized that these installations mark a pivotal advancement in EV infrastructure. “This is not just a first for India, but a major milestone in global EV charging capabilities,” said a Tata EV spokesperson. “We’re enabling seamless long-haul EV travel, which is crucial for widespread adoption.”

The initial rollout covers high-traffic routes including Delhi-Mumbai, Bengaluru-Chennai, and Hyderabad-Vijayawada. Tata EV plans to expand the network rapidly to ensure national coverage, aligning with government targets to cut carbon emissions and electrify public transport systems.

This launch follows Tata’s broader strategy to lead in the EV space, with investments in battery technology, vehicle innovation, and nationwide charging solutions. Industry experts view the Megacharger network as a game-changer for commercial fleet electrification in India’s fast-growing e-mobility sector.
