Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has partnered with Ather Energy to bolster local EV manufacturing capabilities. This collaboration falls under the PM Gati Shakti initiative, which aims to strengthen supply chains and build a resilient EV ecosystem.
The strategic partnership was formalized during DPIIT’s engagement with key industry players at Ather Energy’s Hosur manufacturing facility. Senior DPIIT officials, including Joint Secretary Sanjiv, were present to assess Ather’s production infrastructure and supply chain capabilities firsthand.
As part of the collaboration, Ather Energy will play a key role in identifying supply chain challenges and recommending policy-level solutions to boost indigenous component manufacturing. The partnership is expected to help bridge gaps in critical EV parts and support the development of a more self-reliant supply network.
During the visit, Ather’s leadership team provided a comprehensive overview of their vertically integrated manufacturing process, including battery assembly, motor production, and vehicle assembly lines. The facility is designed to accommodate a high degree of localization and automation, aligning well with the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
DPIIT emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in scaling up EV production and ensuring India meets its sustainability and mobility goals. Ather’s strong technological foundation and local sourcing model make it an ideal partner for this policy-led initiative.
The collaboration aims to enable India to emerge as a global hub for electric vehicle production, reduce import dependency, and foster innovation in green mobility. Both DPIIT and Ather Energy reaffirmed their commitment to building a sustainable and competitive EV ecosystem in the country.
