The next EV policy would put more emphasis on improving the infrastructure for charging, according to Ashish Kundra, the commissioner of Delhi’s transportation system.

The next electric vehicle strategy, according to Delhi Transport Commissioner Ashish Kundra, will concentrate on improving the infrastructure for charging and broadening the finance options for implementing purchase incentives.

The Delhi government extended the Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy, 2020, which was set to expire on August 8.

The government would now pursue an electrification objective under which 80% of the bus fleet will be electric by 2025, according to Kundra, who spoke on Monday at a summit on sustainable transportation organized by the International Council on sustainable Transportation (ICCT) and the Indian G20 Secretariat.

Light and medium-duty trucks or goods vehicles used for intra-city operations, he suggested, might be the newest vehicle segment that the next EV policy targets.

“For instance, garbage tippers or tankers or even school buses could be thought of,” he stated at the occasion.
