On September 14, the 2023 Nexon and Nexon EV facelift will go on sale. Tata Motors is in the midst of a new car launch frenzy. The Tata Punch EV, according to sources, will be the next model to be released by the Indian automaker. The Punch EV’s price will reportedly be revealed by late October of this year.
(1) Punch EV will launch following Nexon EV’s revamp.
(2) placed in between the Nexon EV and the Tiago EV
(3) likely to have a variety of powertrain choices
Tata Punch EV’s competition and positioning
The Citroen eC3 in our market will be directly targeted by the Punch EV. It will be positioned above the Tiago EV hatchback and below the Nexon EV MR (the Nexon EV range’s lower-spec model). According to our sources, it will be marketed as an SUV alternative to the Tigor EV car, which now sees the majority of its sales in its X-Press T fleet form.
The Tata Punch EV: What Should I Know?
The Punch EV will use a Ziptron powertrain from Tata and is most likely the first Tata EV to have a charging socket installed on the front bumper. There have been rumors that the Punch EV may have four-wheel disc brakes, unique alloy wheels, and the customary EV-specific cosmetic modifications to distinguish it from the petrol cousin.
Along with the new two-spoke steering wheel that made its debut on the Nexon facelift, the interior will also receive some visual updates. If Tata Motors gives the Punch EV the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment that is presently available on the Nexon, that is yet to be seen.
Tata Punch EV powertrain information
The Punch EV will be based on the ALFA platform with Tata’s gen-2 EV architecture, which essentially is an ICE to EV conversion with major modifications. It will come with a liquid-cooled battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor powering the front wheels. Like in the case of the Tigor, Tiago, and Nexon EVs, Tata Motors could offer the Punch EV with two different battery sizes and charging options
Estimated prices for Tata Punch EV
The Citroen eC3 (Rs 11.50–12.43 lakh) will be a rival when the Tata Punch EV debuts in late October. Expect the price of the Punch EV to be in the same range as the Tigor EV (Rs 12.49–13.75 lakh), as Tata Motors intends to pitch it as an SUV option. As the launch approaches, more information about the Punch EV should become available.
