The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has received 100 electric buses from Tata Motors, the company stated. The 9-meter air-conditioned Tata Ultra electric buses that will operate on Guwahati’s roads are intended to offer a convenient, safe, and comfortable means of transportation inside the city.

These zero-emission buses are powered by cutting-edge battery systems, include the newest features, and are constructed locally using a next-generation architecture. On January 1, 2024, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, introduced the buses.

Making public transport more effective and efficient is our mission, and we are thankful to the Assam State Government and the ASTC for giving us the opportunity to supply a modern fleet of electric buses,” stated Rohit Srivastava, vice president and business head of CV Passengers at Tata Motors, in response to the announcement.

“These buses are eco-friendly and will make public transportation safe, comfortable, tech-driven, and more efficient. They are built with cutting-edge technology and have undergone extensive testing under a variety of conditions,” he continued. We are thrilled that our Tata Ultra electric buses have been introduced and are now in service to benefit the people of Guwahati.

Over 1,500 electric buses with an uptime of over 95% have been supplied by Tata Motors to various Indian cities, totaling over 10 crore kilometers driven. This car maximizes energy efficiency thanks to its all-electric drivetrain, which lowers energy expenditures and operating expenses.

It prioritizes the comfort and safety of its travelers with innovative features like air suspension, electronic stability control, electronic brake distribution, Intelligent Transport System (ITS), and panic button.
