The newly launched fleet comprises diesel and CNG buses that comply with BS-VI emission standards. The induction of these buses is aimed at replacing ageing vehicles, enhancing operational efficiency, and strengthening public transport connectivity in both urban and rural regions of the state.
The flag-off ceremony was held at the State Secretariat in Chennai, where the Chief Minister officially launched the buses before they were deployed for passenger services. The initiative is expected to improve the quality of daily transport operations while supporting the growing travel needs of commuters throughout Tamil Nadu.
Following the launch, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay travelled in one of the newly introduced TNSTC buses, purchased a passenger ticket, and interacted with commuters as well as transport staff. The gesture highlighted the government’s focus on understanding passenger experience while promoting the state’s public transportation network.
According to the Tamil Nadu government, the fleet expansion is part of its continued efforts to modernize the state’s transport infrastructure and improve accessibility through better-quality buses. The addition of the new vehicles is expected to enhance passenger comfort, increase service reliability, and support efficient public mobility across the state.
The introduction of the 300 new TNSTC buses reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening public transportation while investing in modern and environmentally compliant vehicles. The fleet modernization initiative is expected to play a key role in delivering improved travel services and supporting Tamil Nadu’s long-term transport development goals.
