Electric bicycle injuries in the United States rose by an average of more than 99% every year between 2017 and 2022, climbing from 751 recorded cases to 23,493, an approximately 31-fold increase in five years, according to a study of national injury surveillance data published in JAMA Network Open. The research, which compared injury trends across electric and conventional scooters and bicycles, found that e-bicycle injuries grew faster than any other micromobility category over the period.
