Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) has concluded its Phase IX tender for 450 MW/900 MWh of standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in Gujarat. The tender has recorded a lowest discovered tariff of INR 231,989/MW/month, according to the tender outcome.
NLC India Renewables Limited emerged as the lowest bidder in the tender. The company quoted a tariff of INR 231,989/MW/month for a bid quantity of 275 MW. Sun Drops Energia Limited followed with a tariff of INR 231,990/MW/month for a bid quantity of 410 MW.
Under Phase IX, GUVNL had invited bids for developing 450 MW/900 MWh of standalone battery energy storage capacity in Gujarat. The projects will be developed under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model and will provide energy storage services to GUVNL on an on-demand basis.
The contracted storage capacity will support Gujarat’s state distribution companies (DISCOMs) during both peak and off-peak periods. The selected developers will establish standalone BESS projects connected to the state grid and make the storage capacity available to GUVNL for charging and discharging as required.
The BESS systems will be required to complete two full charge-discharge cycles each day. GUVNL will enter into Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreements (BESPAs) with the successful bidders to formalise the procurement and utilisation of the storage capacity.
The projects will also be eligible for Viability Gap Funding (VGF) under the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) scheme. The Phase IX tender adds 450 MW/900 MWh of standalone storage capacity to GUVNL’s procurement plans, with the selected projects intended to provide storage services to the state utility as required.
