VSL PowerHive, the battery and energy storage arm of Vikram Solar Limited, has launched the P261, a 125 kW/261 kWh liquid-cooled Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Designed for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers, the new system will cater to energy storage requirements across India and international markets. The launch marks the first official product debut under the PowerHive brand.
The P261 has been developed to address a range of energy requirements for industrial and commercial users. Its applications include backup power, peak-load management, solar energy storage, diesel generator reduction, power quality and reliability support, EV charging and microgrid operations. The system is intended to help businesses improve energy management while making better use of stored and renewable power.
The BESS features a compact, single-cabinet design combined with liquid cooling. According to VSL PowerHive, the cooling system helps maintain battery cell health and extend battery life. An integrated Energy Management System (EMS) enables real-time monitoring and remote diagnostics. The system also includes fire suppression and multiple protection measures against overcharge, short circuits and thermal events.
At the battery level, the P261 uses a 261 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery with a nominal voltage of 832V and a cell capacity of 314Ah. The system supports both on-grid and off-grid configurations and is designed to operate across a temperature range of -30°C to 50°C. It also carries an IP52S rating for protection against dust and water ingress, supporting deployment in demanding industrial environments.
For C&I users, the P261 can support peak-load management and demand charge reduction while enabling intelligent shifting of stored energy to improve solar utilisation. It can also provide backup power during outages and help reduce dependence on diesel generators. In addition, the system supports EV charging, power quality requirements and microgrid applications. Its architecture is designed to allow future capacity expansion while bringing solar input, grid power, storage and EV charging together through a single interface.
