Hyundai Motor India launched the Hyundai BAYON in India on 26 October 2026, at an introductory starting price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new SUV expands Hyundai’s mid-size SUV portfolio alongside the Creta. It combines a petrol powertrain with advanced driver assistance systems, connected-car technology and a generative AI voice assistant.

The Hyundai BAYON is powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine producing 115 PS of maximum power and 143.8 Nm of peak torque. Customers can choose between a six-speed manual transmission and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT). The iVT variant features Dash Boost Mode, Sporty Drive Tech and paddle shifters. The SUV also offers Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes.

Inside, the SUV features two 12.3-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Its Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, accelerated by NVIDIA technology, integrates navigation and digital functions. The BAYON also offers Hyundai Bluelink with more than 70 connected features and over-the-air software updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers.

A key technology highlight is Hyundai Motor India’s generative AI voice assistant, which combines intelligence from Perplexity with voice AI technology from SoundHound AI. It is designed to respond to conversational requests, including queries about weather, travel itineraries, hotels, restaurants and nearby attractions. The SUV also supports more than 500 embedded voice commands in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu.

In terms of safety, the Hyundai BAYON is equipped with Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offering 23 driver-assistance functions. These include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go. Hyundai states that the SUV offers more than 80 advanced safety features, with over 35 available as standard across all variants. Six airbags and Electronic Stability Control are also included.

Bookings for the Hyundai BAYON are open through Hyundai India’s official website and authorised dealerships for ₹11,000. The SUV is built on Hyundai’s Global K Enhanced Platform, which the company says is engineered for five-star Indian safety standards. With its introductory price, petrol engine, dual-screen cockpit, generative AI voice assistant and Level 2 Pro ADAS, the BAYON adds a technology-focused option to Hyundai’s Indian SUV lineup.
