Italian EV maker, VLF Velocifero has declared its entry into the Indian market and will set up its production facility in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. It has teamed up with KAW Veloce Motors Pvt. Ltd. to handle production and diffusion. The brand is going to be inaugurated in India during the 2024 festive season (likely between October – November) along with its scooter, the VLF Tennis.
The VLF Tennis is accessible in 1.4kWh and 2.8kWh battery pack variants, with peak power outputs of 1.5kW and 4kW respectively from the motor. The 1.4kWh variant gets a declared range of 60km and a maximum speed of 45kmph while the 2.8kWh variant gets a declared range of 100km and and a top speed of 100kmph respectively. Suspension setup includes of a telescopic fork and a mainshock while braking duties are operated by disc brakes at both ends. The electric scooter gets a TFT instrument comfort, three riding modes: Eco, Comfort and Sport and an LED headlight and taillight.
The Italian EV maker mostly chooses tier 1 and tier 2 cities and aims to have 15 dealerships functional by the end of 2024, in due course scaling up to 50 dealerships by the end of the current financial year (March 31, 2025). The premium variant of the Tennis e-scooter with the 2.8kWh capacity battery pack compete with the likes of the Ather 450S, Ather 450X (2.9kWh), Ola S1 X (3kWh), Ola S1 Air, Bajaj Chetak 2901 and the TVS iQube (3.4kWh).
