The largest obstacle to EV adoption—the lack of infrastructure for charging them—is being aggressively addressed by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) and JSW-MG Motor India. One of the main problems with owning an electric vehicle (EV) is charging. On Tuesday, the top two manufacturers of India’s emerging passenger electric vehicle line announced measures to address this issue.

TPEM announced that it is working with Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) to provide solar rooftop systems and EVs together. Finding, booking, and paying for charging stations could be made easier, according to MG, with the help of its E-Hub. According to Tata Motors, clients will be able to have a solar rooftop system installed through TPREL thanks to the partnership with Tata Power Renewable Energy, TPEM.

In addition, both companies will promote EVs/EV Charging and solar rooftop systems to their respective customers to drive awareness of the benefits. Both EVs and solar power systems have zero tailpipe emissions. The package will reduce the total cost of ownership for EVs, reduce the electricity bill for EV customers and accelerate the payback for solar rooftop owners who buy an EV providing 100% emissions free power for EVs.
