Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), a division of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (ARE&M), honoured the building block laying and groundbreaking of their Customer Qualification Plant (CQP) in Divitipally, Mahbubnagar district.
Prominent attendees included ARE&M Chairman and Managing Director Jayadev Galla, Executive Directors Vikramadithya Gourineni and Harshavardhana, as well as the Vice President and Head of SSU Mahindra & Mahindra. Vice President and Head of Piaggio Vehicles India Ashish Jangale and President EMEA Steven Cai. Members of the business and government communities were among the other luminaries present.
The first phase of the battery pack plant was started, with a 1.5 GWh current capacity. The plant manufactures Li-ion battery packs specifically designed for Indian circumstances, which are used for stationary energy storage needs, in addition to supplying major EV OEMs. Several cell types may be produced by the CQP for client validation and testing. It is expected to go online in the first quarter of the following fiscal year. Following ARE&M’s collaboration with Gotion Inobat (GIB) for technology, production, and bespoke solutions, the plan recently got a boost.
The 260-acre Giga Corridor, which will require an investment of Rs 9,500 crore until 2031, will house a battery pack plant in addition to the advanced cell manufacturing Gigafactory. Furthermore, the company is constructing the ePositive Energy Labs, a state-of-the-art advanced energy research and innovation center, in Hyderabad.
In addition to the CQP’s foundation stone laying ceremony and battery pack facility opening, Amara Raja and Piaggio inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Under the terms of this agreement, Amara Raja and Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited will work together to develop and supply Lithium Iron Phosphate (Li-ion) cells and chargers for its EV 3-wheelers as well as to develop cells and battery packs for their upcoming, locally produced 2-wheeler offerings. It also just inked a Memorandum of Understanding with Ather Energy.
