Ola Electric has declared new products and future roadmap across EV and energy verticals. With the inauguration of Roadster, Roadster X and Roadster Pro, the company came in the electric motorcycle segment and further declared the incorporation of its cells in its own vehicles starting Q1 FY26.
The company also displayed MoveOS 5, the new Gen-3 platform, and the locally built Bharat 4680 cell and battery pack at Sankalp 2024, Ola’s annual launch event, which took place on August 15, 2024, at its Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CMD, Ola Electric, said, “Motorcycles now make up two thirds of India’s 2W market, and Ola’s entry into this industry would likely boost the country’s 2W EV penetration rate. With our futuristic product range, we have already been successful in speeding up the adoption of EVs in the scooter market. Currently, we are concentrating on supercharging the EV penetration through our motorbikes. In addition of our desire to begin integrating our cells into our cars early in the upcoming year, we are committed to pave a new way for widespread EV adoption in India.”
The all-new Roadster series of motorcycles from Ola Electric—the Roadster, Roadster X, and Roadster Pro—has been unveiled. Sleek, futuristic, and monolithic design language characterize the motorcycles, which are built on the scalable, modular, integrated Ola Motorcycles platform. Ola Electric also gave hints about the Sportster and Arrowhead, two of its forthcoming models. On August 15, 2024, reservations for every Roadster variation will open.
Ola Electric will provide an industry-first 8-year battery warranty for its whole motorbike range, on par with its S1 scooter portfolio. Additionally, customers will be able to take advantage of the ease of charging their motorcycles using Ola’s current network.
Ola Electric revealed that it will begin integrating its own cells into its electric vehicles in Q1 FY26, providing it a significant competitive advantage with extremely effective cost structures. At Ola’s Gigafactory, the cell is presently undergoing trial production.
This cell has a special technological ability that allows lithium-ion cell packs to have five times the energy (275 Wh/kg) of form-factor cells like the 2170 cells, which are already widely employed in automotive applications. With a guaranteed 50% charge in 13 minutes, the cell has a longer lifespan of over 1,000 charge cycles, a broader operating window (10-700C), and improved fast-charging capabilities.
Terming it as a peak of innovation and engineering, Ola Electric unveiled its next Gen-3 platform which will serve as the basis for the company’s upcoming electric vehicles. Scalability, improved performance, and increased economy while also lowering prices will be made possible by the most advanced EV platform.
Ola Electric has teased MoveOS 5, the most recent version of its operating system, following the community’s very positive reception to MoveOS 4. MoveOS 5 will enable a number of new features, such as Group Navigation, Live Location Sharing, and Road Trip Mode powered by Ola Maps, with the goal of enhancing the entire riding experience. A voice assistant and predictive insights powered by Krutrim AI assistant will be included, along with performance-enhancing technologies like Smart Charging, Smart Park, and TPMS alerts. By Diwali, customers will be able to download the MoveOS 5 beta through an over-the-air update.
