Hyundai Motor Company and the Skoda Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to start collaborating on building a hydrogen transportation ecosystem. Petr Novotný, CEO of Skoda Group, and Ken Ramírez, Executive Vice-President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Business of Hyundai Motor Company, attended the signing ceremony at the Korea-Czech Republic Business Summit in Prague.
Research on energy-efficient solutions for mobility projects and goods, the use of hydrogen fuel cell systems and technologies, and the potential of the hydrogen ecosystem and value chain beyond mobility are all covered under the parameters of the Memorandum of Understanding.
“Our collaboration with Skoda Group is to hasten the adoption of hydrogen, thereby advancing hydrogen technology and carbon neutrality in international markets, including the Czech Republic. We work with Skoda Group to develop beneficial synergies between our fuel cell technology and Skoda Group’s mobility goods and projects in order to lead the rapidly expanding hydrogen industry,” said Executive Vice President Ramírez.
Both groups believe that a sustainable society will rely heavily on hydrogen, starting with mobility. As per the MOU, the concerned parties will explore the possibility of Hyundai distributing its fuel cell system and technology. This would expedite the assimilation of eco-friendly transportation in all international markets where Skoda Group operates, particularly the Czech Republic.
The Skoda Group and Hyundai Motor Company will also conduct feasibility studies for fuel cell system applications for purposes other than mobility.
