Kia India presently offers two electric cars in its lineup: the newly introduced EV9 and the high-end Kia EV6. But the company intends to increase the range of products it offers by adding mass-market EVs. In India, testing of one model, the Kia Sonet EV, has already been observed. Any clear view of the car’s exterior is obstructed by the test vehicle’s extensive camouflage. But there is no denying the general shape and proportions—it is a Kia Sonet. This test mule might be a totally electric car based on the ICE Sonet because there is not a visible tailpipe on it.

It looked like the alloy wheels were the identical 16-inch ones on the ICE Sonet. This test mule’s back shows that it has the ICE Sonet’s linked LED tail light signature. To provide some design variations, the rear bumper might be unique to an EV. The right side and back of the planned Sonet EV were seen in the most recent spy photos.

Although the future EV’s characteristics are yet unknown, it is expected to have a large battery that will allow it to compete in its market. After a full charge, the EV battery should provide a predicted range of about 450 kilometers. Like the Tata Nexon EV, Kia is probably going to provide basic and long-range models at different pricing ranges.

It is anticipated that the Kia Sonet EV will have additional color options to differentiate it from the ICE model. It might have new design elements, a distinctive alloy wheel design, and a redesigned grille. Along with more capabilities, the inside is probably going to see some little tweaks and a revised user interface.

One of Kia’s first mass-market electric cars, the Sonet EV is scheduled to go on sale in India by the middle of 2025. In the sector, Mahindra XUV 400 and Tata Nexon EV will be its main rivals.

Additionally, Kia is working on the Carens EV, which will have seven or eight seats. It is anticipated to have new functionality and major design upgrades. There will be an ICE and an EV version of the improved Carens available.
