Mercedes-Benz’s latest iteration of the iconic G-Class, the Mercedes-AMG G 63, launched with a hybrid drivetrain and enhanced off-road capabilities. The new G 63’s custom 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine is complemented by a 48-volt electrical system and an integrated starter generator.
The powertrain’s 430 kW and 850 Nm of torque are increased by 15 kW by the hybrid system. The vehicle can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.3 seconds and has an electronically controlled top speed of 240 kmph.
The G 63’s suspension system has been completely redesigned to incorporate AMG Active Ride Control and hydraulic roll stabilization. Mercedes claims that adaptable shock absorbers with dual hydraulic connections improve handling and comfort and that the technology replaces conventional mechanical anti-roll bars with active hydraulic components.
The exterior maintains the G-Class’s unique appearance while incorporating new features like the AMG emblem on the bonnet and vertical louvers in the front bumper. The vehicle features augmented reality navigation and a redesigned off-road cockpit with two 12.3-inch screens.
One significant upgrade is the “Transparent Hood” function, which aids in navigating challenging terrain and is accessible through the off-road menu. The car’s off-road control unit displays vital information like tire pressure, steering angle, altitude, compass readings, and vehicle direction.
