In the US, General Motors (GM) has sold over 300,000 electric vehicles (EVs) since 2016, which is a significant milestone for the EV industry. With more than 370,000 EV sales in North America as of the third quarter of 2024, GM is the second-largest EV seller in the US.

In Q3 2024 alone, GM shipped around to 32,000 all-electric vehicles in the United States, a 46% increase from the previous quarter and a 60% rise from the year prior. GM’s conscious choice to offer a broad selection of EV vehicles, including high-performance versions like the GMC HUMMER EV, luxury models like the Cadillac LYRIQ, and more reasonably priced options like the Chevy Equinox EV, is what caused this surge.

In addition to producing EVs, GM is investing in infrastructure to help consumers make the switch. Among these initiatives are the introduction of backup power-capable at-home charging choices and the expansion of public charging stations. GM is concurrently growing its range of gasoline and diesel vehicles to meet a range of consumer preferences and maintain a laser-like focus on EV innovation.

As it looks forward to future models like the Cadillac OPTIQ and ESCALADE IQ, GM remains committed to ensuring that electric driving is accessible to all. These accomplishments, according to GM, are the product of decades of engineering and research, and more will come as the company accelerates its transition to an all-electric future.
