The first edition of Epsilon Advanced Materials’ (EAM) Sustainability Report for 2023–2024 is released. This paper was presented at the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) India’s Outlook on Clean Energy Storage: A Roadmap to Net Zero summit in Delhi, in the presence of Mr. Srikant Nagulapalli, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India.
This report demonstrates EAM’s dedication to Environment, Sustainability, and Governance activities, such as using a waste heat recovery power plant to satisfy all of its energy demands and treating and reusing all of its wastewater on-site to achieve Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD). When it comes to producing environmentally friendly battery materials for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems (ESS), EAM’s graphite anode materials Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) yields promising results. By comparing the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of graphite anodes made by EAM with those made in China, the study found that Epsilon’s production methods yield emissions that are up to 78% lower, which helps with efforts to reduce carbon emissions worldwide. From the extraction of raw materials to the finished product, every phase of EAM’s manufacturing cycle was examined by the LCA, which demonstrated modifications for better environmental performance.
With a current digital adoption rate of 69% and a goal of 100% digitalization by 2025 to improve transparency, operational efficiency, financial consolidation, treasury management, and sustainability tracking, the study also emphasizes the company’s progress in digital transformation.
Along with its environmental accomplishments, EAM has improved the lives of nearly 300,000 people in 49 villages in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, through its Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) programs. In addition to delivering 12 lakh liters of drinking water to Karnataka villages during times of scarcity, EAM has improved health, education, gender equality, and infrastructure development in these communities.
“Epsilon Advanced Materials was founded with the vision to enable the global EV battery supply chain, through sustainable products towards clean energy transition,” stated Vikram Handa, Managing Director, Epsilon Group. In order to ensure that our battery materials actively contribute to the decarbonization of e-mobility and energy storage, we have integrated sustainable concepts into every facet of our business operations, from the sourcing of raw materials to waste minimization, product innovation, and circularity.
“Our first Sustainability Report, ‘Electrifying the Road to a Greener Tomorrow,’ demonstrates our efforts to provide high-performance battery materials while minimizing environmental impact,” stated Sunit Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Epsilon Advanced Materials. As the first fully integrated manufacturer of graphite anode materials in India, we are fostering innovation, circularity, and ethical business practices to create a cleaner, greener future while maintaining responsibility and transparency.
