SW MG Motor India has delivered one hundred of the newly released MG Windsor electric vehicles (EVs) to Hyderabad. The popular crossover utility vehicle (CUV) was sold retail at the automaker’s RAAM MG dealership.
15,176 reservations were made in a single day when Windsor made its debut in India in September. In addition to becoming the best-selling electric vehicle in India, it sold 3,116 units in October, making up almost 30% of total sales of electric vehicles in the country during that time.
The new EV laws passed by the Telangana government contributed to the Windsor’s impressive Hyderabad sales. Under the Telangana Electric Vehicle & Energy Storage Policy 2020–2030, the state government would exclude all EVs purchased and registered in Telangana from road taxes for the first two years, till December 31, 2026. The government order will exempt commercial vehicles, electric two-wheelers, and electric four-wheelers.
There are three different models of the MG Windsor: Essence, Exclusive, and Excite. Ex-showroom prices for the Excite, Exclusive, and Essence variants are as follows: Rs 13.50 lakh, Rs 14.50 lakh, and Rs 15.50 lakh, respectively.
The new EV has a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 38kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with an IP67 rating. The highest power and torque that the motor can generate are 136 PS and 200 Nm, respectively. The ARAI-certified range on a single full charge is 332 kilometers. The car has four different driving modes: Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport.
