A unique training program on two-wheeler EV repair and maintenance for mechanics was conducted by Motul India and Zypp Electric as part of a strategic partnership to improve automotive skills in the electric vehicle (EV) landscape. Over 10,000 technicians throughout India will be trained and certified as EV-certified professionals using this effort, which recently began with a two-day training program for a select group of mechanics in Gurugram.
Zypp Electric, a leader in environmentally friendly last-mile delivery systems, contributes its profound understanding of the operating challenges and requirements of e-2Ws, while Motul India, a leading participant in the automotive lubricant market, offers its vast experience in vehicle maintenance and care. By enhancing their abilities, Motul India and Zypp Electric hope to enable mechanics to reliably repair and maintain both ICE and electric two- and three-wheelers.
This first program included extensive classroom instruction with hands-on training. Mechanics acquired the practical skills necessary for maintaining electric two-wheelers while learning the fundamentals of EV electrical systems, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. Participating mechanics’ and dealer partners’ comments emphasized the program’s applicability. Participants’ technical skills significantly improved as a result of the program; mechanics’ understanding of EV maintenance improved by up to 50% after the training.
“This initiative is part of Motul’s broader ambitions in the mobility industry, including EV, retrofitting to EV and H2, thermal management, and immersed battery technology,” said Mr. Nagendra Pai, CEO of Motul India & South Asia. We are working with Zypp Electric to give mechanics the know-how and abilities they need to adapt to the rapidly evolving mobility scenario. We are enabling mechanics to develop new career paths and make more money in addition to upskilling them.
“India is a rapidly expanding market, and its booming e-commerce necessitates massive logistics expertise and prowess,” continued Mr. Akash Gupta, Co-Founder & CEO of Zypp Electric. One of the many grassroots initiatives that the EV ecosystem currently requires is workforce training. Our goal of creating a sustainable EV last-mile delivery ecosystem is perfectly aligned with our partnership with Motul India on this mechanic training effort.
