NTPC Limited, on behalf of NTPC (Mauritius) Energy Limited, has invited international competitive bids for a 15 MW floating solar photovoltaic (PV) project integrated with a 12 MW/60 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at Tamarind Falls Reservoir in Mauritius. The tender covers an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package for developing the grid-connected floating solar power plant and its associated battery storage facility.

The project aims to combine floating solar power generation with battery storage to support electricity supply reliability and firm power dispatch. According to the tender specifications, the floating solar installation must maintain a minimum DC-to-AC ratio of 1.33. The integrated BESS is specified with a power capacity of 12 MW and an energy storage capacity of 60 MWh.

The EPC package includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, transportation, storage, installation, testing and commissioning of the floating solar PV plant and BESS. The scope also includes three years of operation and maintenance (O&M) for the solar plant, an annual maintenance contract (AMC) for critical equipment, and a 12-year comprehensive annual maintenance contract (CAMC) for the battery energy storage system.

The tender follows a single-stage, two-envelope bidding process, followed by a reverse auction. Bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit (EMD) or bid security of ₹2 crore or USD 207,600. The tender also specifies contract performance security requirements and additional bank guarantees equivalent to 2% of the total contract price for successful system integration.

According to the published tender schedule, the invitation for bids was issued on October 15, 2026. Tender document downloads are scheduled to begin on October 26, 2026, while the pre-bid conference is scheduled for November 12, 2026, at 10:30 AM IST. The deadline for submitting bidder queries is November 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM IST, and the last date for bid submission is December 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM IST.

The techno-commercial bids are scheduled to open on December 8, 2026, at 3:30 PM IST. The price bid opening date will be announced separately after the techno-commercial evaluation. The tender represents a proposed floating solar and battery energy storage project in Mauritius, with NTPC seeking bids for its development through the EPC contract.
