Bajaj Auto plans to introduce the biggest update for the Chetak ever after retail sales of 174,909 units from January to November 2024 increased 184% year over year. The Chetak electric scooter is still in high demand, according to the business.
This update aims to increase the Chetak’s utility. Bajaj Auto has been trying to compete with rivals that offer a lot more space, such as the TVS iQube, Ola S1, and Ather Rizta. The company has created a redesigned chassis that moves the battery pack under the floorboard to increase boot space.
Changing to a new battery pack design could increase capacity and provide a greater range. However, we don’t expect a big increase if this happens. For comparison, the reported IDC range of the Bajaj Chetak now varies between 123 and 137 kilometers, depending on the model.
It is likely that the scooter’s design and other features will remain unchanged. Customers of all ages have embraced the Chetak’s look, and Bajaj Auto won’t alter this formula. There will likely be some new color schemes, but those will likely be the only visual changes.
The new Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is expected to go on sale in the middle of December. Prices for the current model, which range from Rs 96,000 to Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), are most likely going to stay the same.
