ACCIONA Energía has inaugurated one of Spain’s largest publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the El Faro shopping centre in Badajoz. Developed in partnership with Castellana Properties, the facility features 42 charging bays backed by 2,000kW of contracted power, ensuring reliable charging performance even during periods of high electricity demand. The project marks another milestone in strengthening Spain’s rapidly expanding EV charging infrastructure.
The charging hub offers multiple charging options to accommodate different vehicle types and customer requirements. It includes four ultra-fast 240kW chargers serving eight charging bays, capable of delivering charging sessions in under 15 minutes for compatible EVs. Additionally, ten 80kW fast chargers support 20 bays with charging times ranging from 30 to 60 minutes, while seven 22kW AC chargers provide 14 bays for longer-duration parking and charging.
To improve customer convenience, users can access charging services through the ACCIONA Recarga mobile application, which offers exclusive promotions and account management features. The station also enables ad hoc charging without prior registration, allowing drivers to activate charging directly from their smartphones or pay using bank cards, making the service accessible to all EV owners.
The installation is equipped with EV charging technology supplied by Circutor, supporting high-performance and reliable charging operations. Beyond expanding charging availability, the project enhances the services offered at the El Faro shopping centre, creating additional value for visitors while encouraging wider adoption of electric mobility solutions.
Castellana Properties stated that the new charging facility aligns with its long-term sustainability strategy. The company continues to reduce its environmental footprint through energy efficiency initiatives, self-consumption projects and investments focused on decarbonisation and sustainable transportation across its commercial properties.
