Aeson Power, an Australian brand specialising in sodium-ion battery technology, is showcasing its automotive battery portfolio at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026. The company is presenting its sodium-ion starting and start-stop battery solutions, which are already used in the aftermarket, along with new sodium-ion auxiliary battery solutions for electric and commercial vehicles.

At the event, Aeson Power is engaging with automotive OEMs, suppliers, distributors and aftermarket partners. The discussions are focused on the use of sodium-ion technology for starting, start-stop and auxiliary power applications across different vehicle platforms.

The company’s sodium-ion starter and start-stop batteries are designed to deliver instant cranking power, rapid charging and strong cold-cranking performance in a lightweight design. Aeson Power also highlights wide-temperature performance and a service life of more than three times that of conventional lead-acid batteries in start-stop applications.

According to Aeson Power, its sodium-ion battery product series has achieved scaled delivery in the aftermarket, with more than 100,000 units already on the road across over 30 countries. The company positions these batteries as an alternative to conventional lead-acid batteries for relevant automotive applications.

Aeson Power is also showcasing sodium-ion auxiliary battery solutions for electric vehicles and commercial vehicles. These batteries are designed to provide low-voltage auxiliary and backup power for vehicle systems during parking and other periods when the main engine is not operating. The company believes sodium-ion technology has potential beyond conventional starting applications, particularly for next-generation automotive low-voltage systems.

Building on its aftermarket experience, Aeson Power is expanding into the front-load OEM market through its collaboration with Xupai Group, which brings more than 30 years of battery industry experience. The partnership combines capabilities in battery research and development, battery management systems, testing and system integration to develop production-ready solutions for EV auxiliary systems and internal-combustion vehicle start-stop applications.
