With a total of seven versions on a single platform, the carmaker now provides two electric scooter models: the Ather 450 and the Ather Rizta 229. It is now working on the “Zenith” motorbike platform and the “EL” scooter platform.

According to Ather Energy draft red herring prospectus (DRHP), which was submitted to the Securities and Exchange Board of India, the Zenith platform is being developed to accommodate new electric two-wheelers aimed at the 125–300 cc motorcycle categories.

Even though two-wheelers are driving India’s electrification, the electric motorbike market hasn’t gained much pace despite a few firms like Revolt and Ultraviolette making a small number of models.

Motorcycles, in Ather Energy’s opinion, present a substantial opportunity to increase our target market. Roughly 63% of the two-wheeler market in India is made up of motorcycles. By the end of this decade, the business projects that 10% of motorcycles will be powered by electric vehicles.

According to Autocar Professional, Ola Electric, the biggest producer of electric two-wheelers in India, is developing a range of four electric motorbikes and intends to introduce its first model in the first part of the 2026 fiscal year. In the long run, it also intends to broaden its product line to include mass-market motorcycles.

The new EL scooter platform is currently in a highly developed state. According to the business, it will provide a more affordable and adaptable foundation for Ather’s scooter lines.

The batteries and Atherstack from the Ather 450 platform will be used in the new scooter platform, which will also have a redesigned chassis, electronics, and motor.

“The EL platform will allow us to develop a diverse range of scooter models tailored to various domestic and international markets needs, and reduce our costs,” the business claimed.

The dates for the introduction of the two new platforms were not made public by Ather Energy.

The carmaker’s forthcoming plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, will produce cars built on the new platforms. Phased opening of the facility’s production is scheduled for May 2026.

At present, the company operates a single production plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with an installed capacity of 4.20 lakh units annually.

Ather Energy sold 1.10 lakh electric two-wheelers in total in the fiscal year 2024, an increase from the 92,093 units sold in the fiscal year 2023.
