Audi has inaugurated its second electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in Tokyo, located in the Shibakōen district near the iconic Tokyo Tower. This facility, which opened on April 24, 2025, follows the success of the first hub in the Kioichō business district and is part of Audi’s global expansion of its fast-charging network.

The Shibakōen hub is designed to provide a premium and convenient charging experience. The two-story facility features a battery-powered hypercharger from PowerX on the ground level, capable of charging two EVs simultaneously at up to 150 kW. The charging station is equipped with Audi’s patented swivel arm, facilitating easy access to vehicle charging ports and keeping cables off the ground. Upstairs, a 50-square-meter lounge offers customers a comfortable space to relax while their vehicles charge. Access to the lounge is granted via a smartphone app once charging begins.

The hub operates on a brand-independent basis, welcoming all EVs, not just Audi models. This inclusivity aligns with Audi’s vision to promote widespread EV adoption and provide accessible charging solutions in urban areas.

Sustainability is a core focus of the Shibakōen hub. The facility utilizes electricity generated exclusively from renewable sources, including a photovoltaic system on the roof. A battery storage system acts as a buffer, reducing strain on the local power grid and enabling high-speed charging without the need for complex infrastructure.

Since the opening of the first Audi charging hub in Tokyo in April 2024, over 2,500 charging sessions have been completed, indicating strong customer acceptance. The success of these hubs has led to plans for additional locations in Tokyo, further expanding Audi’s commitment to sustainable mobility in Japan.

The Shibakōen hub exemplifies Audi’s strategy to integrate cutting-edge technology with user-centric services, enhancing the EV ownership experience in one of the world’s most vibrant cities. As the demand for EVs continues to grow, Audi’s charging infrastructure plays a crucial role in supporting the transition to electric mobility.
