BMW M GmbH has continued its strong upward trajectory in global markets, registering its 14th straight year of record sales in 2025. The performance division of the BMW Group delivered a total of 213,457 vehicles worldwide, marking about a 3 % increase compared with the previous year and reinforcing its stance in the high-performance automotive segment.

The growth helped BMW M secure its seventh consecutive year as the top-selling brand among direct premium performance rivals, such as those from Audi and Mercedes-AMG. Impressively, nearly one in every ten BMW vehicles sold globally last year carried the high-performance M badge, lifting the brand’s overall share to a record 9.8 %.

According to BMW M CEO Franciscus van Meel, the milestone validates the company’s diverse powertrain strategy. He emphasised that the brand will continue to offer performance vehicles across a range of technologies — including fully electric, hybrid and traditional combustion engines — to meet varied customer preferences.

Performance models played a pivotal role in the record sales year, with the newly launched BMW M5 Sedan and M5 Touring generating strong demand in their first full year on sale. These models feature BMW’s M HYBRID plug-in system, delivering 727 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, helping attract buyers in the executive high-performance segment. The M5 Touring also clinched the prestigious “Golden Steering Wheel” award from automotive jurors for overall excellence.

On the model front, the BMW M2 Coupé emerged as the brand’s most popular pure high-performance vehicle, while the BMW X3 M50 claimed the title of top-selling M model overall in 2025, overtaking electric variants such as the i4 M60. Other key contributors included strong demand for M3 sedan and touring variants, including the newly introduced M3 CS Touring.

BMW M’s global appeal remained broad in 2025, with the United States continuing as its largest market by volume, followed by robust results in Canada, Germany, the UK, South Korea and South Africa. China delivered the brand’s highest year-on-year growth, while Switzerland recorded the highest penetration rate of M models relative to total BMW sales.
