Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has expanded its electric vehicle charging infrastructure by installing 46 new charging points at the parking facilities of Al Shera’a, its new headquarters. The installation is part of DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative, which aims to encourage electric vehicle adoption and support Dubai’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
The newly deployed infrastructure includes 40 alternating current (AC) charging points for DEWA employees and six direct current (DC) fast chargers for visitors. The charging stations have been integrated into the headquarters to provide convenient access for EV users while promoting the wider use of zero-emission mobility solutions.
Al Shera’a has been designed as a net-positive government building that produces more clean energy than it consumes. The headquarters reflects DEWA’s commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency and smart infrastructure, while also serving as a model for integrating renewable energy and green mobility into modern urban developments.
Commenting on the initiative, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, said the project aligns with Dubai’s long-term sustainability vision and reinforces efforts to make environmentally friendly transportation more accessible. He added that expanding EV charging infrastructure is an important step in supporting the growing number of electric vehicle users across the emirate.
The installation also contributes to the objectives of the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030. By expanding its charging network, DEWA aims to accelerate EV adoption, reduce carbon emissions from the transport sector and help improve environmental sustainability throughout Dubai.
According to DEWA, Dubai had 2,223 EV charging points by the end of the first quarter of 2026, including EV Green Charger stations and charging facilities operated by licensed independent charge point operators in partnership with public and private sector organisations. The continued expansion of charging infrastructure is expected to further strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading hub for sustainable and smart mobility.
