Electrovaya a Canadian manufacturer of lithium-ion battery technology, has entered a commercial supply agreement with Australia-based Janus Electric Holdings Ltd. The agreement will see Electrovaya provide its Infinity high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems to support Janus Electric’s efforts to convert diesel-powered Class 8 trucks to zero-emission vehicles via its swappable battery platform.

Under the agreement, Electrovaya will deliver next-generation battery systems incorporating its proprietary Infinity cell technology. These systems are designed to offer enhanced safety, superior cycle life, and high performance in demanding operational environments.

Dr. Raj DasGupta, CEO of Electrovaya, emphasized the technical challenge this represents: “Heavy trucks are among the hardest vehicles to electrify, especially where loads are heavy and distances long,” he said, adding that Electrovaya’s battery systems are built for durability and reliability under tough conditions.

Janus Electric’s CEO Ian Campbell noted that this partnership provides greater scalability and performance for freight and logistics operations, stating: “This agreement is a major step toward decarbonising heavy transport with swappable lithium-ion battery systems.”

Janus Electric offers a turnkey electrification solution—including conversion kits, charging infrastructure, and fleet management software—centered around its innovative battery swap technology. The addition of Electrovaya’s battery systems enhances Janus’s full-stack offering for zero-emission freight operations.

The collaboration signals a notable advance in sustainable logistics, combining swappable battery innovation with heavy-duty vehicle electrification. It aligns with rising global momentum toward clean energy solutions in commercial transport.
