ENNOVI has introduced SealTech, an innovative sealing solution designed to enhance the performance and reliability of electric vehicle (EV) busbars. This new technology addresses the challenges associated with traditional sealing methods, offering improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness in EV powertrain applications.

Traditional busbar sealing techniques often involve secondary operations such as potting or the use of rubber gaskets, which can be time-consuming, costly, and prone to leakage over time. SealTech eliminates the need for these additional processes by integrating the sealing mechanism directly into the injection molding process. This approach not only reduces manufacturing complexity but also enhances the overall sealing performance.

SealTech offers two primary sealing options: shrink tubing and adhesive tape. The shrink tubing method utilizes a double-walled tube with an inner adhesive layer that melts and bonds to the busbar during the shrinking process, while the outer polyolefin layer integrates seamlessly with the molded components. Alternatively, the adhesive tape option provides a flexible solution that can be applied using automation equipment, ensuring strong adhesion to both metal and plastic surfaces.

One of the key advantages of SealTech is its ability to conform to various busbar shapes and materials, including PA66, PBT, and PC. The technology has been rigorously tested to withstand pressures up to 7 bar without leakage, even after thermal cycling and aging, making it suitable for a wide range of applications such as motors, inverters, and oil pump interfaces.

By eliminating secondary sealing processes, SealTech significantly reduces production time and costs, offering a more efficient and reliable solution for EV manufacturers. The technology’s compatibility with existing injection molding processes further streamlines manufacturing workflows, contributing to increased productivity and reduced environmental impact.

ENNOVI’s SealTech represents a significant advancement in EV busbar sealing technology, addressing the limitations of traditional methods and providing a robust, cost-effective solution for the evolving needs of the electric vehicle industry. With its innovative design and proven performance, SealTech is poised to become a valuable asset in the development of next-generation EV powertrains.
