Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that electric vehicles (EVs) will soon be available at the same price point as their petrol-powered counterparts. Speaking at the 32nd Convergence India and 10th Smart Cities India Expo, Gadkari highlighted that this price parity will be achieved within the next six months.
The minister further emphasized that the government’s efforts are geared toward making India self-reliant in vehicle production, reducing pollution, and making transportation more cost-effective. With this initiative, India aims to focus on import substitution and move towards a cleaner future.
In his address, Gadkari also discussed the development of the 212-km Delhi-Dehradun expressway, which is expected to be completed within three months. The expressway is part of the broader efforts to improve India’s infrastructure and reduce logistics costs, which will help strengthen the economy.
He stressed that India’s ambition to become the world’s third-largest economy depends heavily on the development of infrastructure, including the promotion of electric mass rapid transport systems. Gadkari reiterated that the country’s future is bright due to these ongoing efforts in transportation and infrastructure.
The government is also pushing for the adoption of innovative technologies to drive down the cost of road construction and further accelerate the country’s economic growth.
