Genesis is set to broaden its GV70 SUV lineup with two new electrified variants: the Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) and a Hybrid model. These additions are part of Genesis’s strategy to diversify its electrified offerings and cater to a wider range of consumer preferences.

The GV70 EREV, scheduled for release in late 2026, will feature a small gasoline engine that acts as a generator to extend the vehicle’s driving range beyond that of a standard electric vehicle. Hyundai, Genesis’s parent company, projects a combined driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometers (620 miles), making it ideal for consumers seeking long-distance electric mobility without frequent recharging.

Following the EREV, Genesis plans to introduce the GV70 Hybrid in early 2027. This model will combine a conventional internal combustion engine with an electric motor, delivering a seamless balance between performance and fuel efficiency. Recent spy shots from South Korea have revealed prototype design cues, indicating Genesis’s careful integration of electrified technology with its luxury SUV styling.

These electrified variants represent a strategic adjustment from Genesis’s prior goal of an exclusively all-electric lineup by 2030. The company aims to bridge the gap to a fully electric future while broadening the GV70’s appeal to a diverse customer base.

In addition to expanding its powertrain options, Genesis plans to strengthen its presence in the United States and enter 20 additional European markets. The company aims to sell 350,000 vehicles annually by 2030, leveraging its diversified offerings to cater to varying consumer preferences.

The launch of the GV70 EREV and Hybrid models underscores Genesis’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and adaptability in the competitive luxury EV market. By introducing these electrified variants, Genesis seeks to offer consumers a blend of luxury, performance, and eco-friendly driving options.
