Indofast Energy has announced the launch of a franchise programme to expand its electric vehicle (EV) battery-swapping network across India, offering entrepreneurs and business owners a chance to establish swap stations with potential annual returns of up to 30 percent. The initiative is part of the company’s broader push to accelerate EV infrastructure development amid rising demand for efficient charging solutions.

The franchise model is designed to enable partners to set up battery-swapping stations with modest space requirements of around 250 square feet and investments ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹40 lakh, depending on the chosen format. Indofast Energy has outlined three operational formats Swap Point, Swap Hub and Swap Junction allowing flexibility based on investment capacity and site conditions.

Indofast Energy, a 50:50 joint venture between IndianOil Corporation Limited and SUN Mobility, currently operates more than 200 franchise partner stations across over 12 cities. The company provides end-to-end support to franchisees, including site assessment, training, setup assistance and operational guidance to help new partners launch and manage swap stations efficiently.

According to the company, its battery-swapping network has facilitated more than 44.5 million swaps and serves over 50,000 EVs nationwide. The franchise programme is structured to offer a combination of fixed returns and revenue sharing, with formats expected to provide returns ranging from 1.7 times to 2.7 times the initial investment over time.

Indofast Energy plans to extend the franchise rollout to major Tier-I and Tier-II cities such as Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, strengthening its footprint in key urban markets where electric mobility adoption is accelerating.

The company’s expansion coincides with broader growth in India’s EV sector, driven by increasing use of electric two- and three-wheelers for delivery services, gig economy operations and daily commuting. By enabling local entrepreneurs to participate in building swap infrastructure, Indofast Energy aims to boost EV accessibility while supporting sustainable transportation objectives nationwide.
