Karma Amaris Unveiled as World’s First Hybrid Luxury Coupé

Karma Automotive unveiled its latest creation, the Amaris, at Monterey Car Week’s elite events—The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Touted as the world’s first hybrid EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) luxury coupé, the Amaris promises a blend of performance, design, and eco-conscious engineering.

The stunning two-door coupé showcases Karma’s evolving Comet Line design language, rendered in Solar Blaze Red over a carbon-fiber and aluminum body. Notable features include 22-inch forged-aluminum “Constellation” wheels, upward-opening swan doors, a streamlined clamshell hood, and aerodynamic innovations like a rear spoiler and Americana-inspired side exhausts.

At the heart of the Amaris lies a potent Hybrid EREV powertrain—two rear-wheel electric motors powered by a 41.5 kWh battery, replenished by a turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline generator. This setup delivers 708 hp, 676 lb-ft of torque, accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds, and achieves a governed top speed of 165 mph. Drivers can expect over 100 miles of electric-only range and a combined range exceeding 400 miles.

Inside, the Amaris sets new standards for luxury and technology. The cabin is outfitted in Crimson Orbit leather and suede, enhanced with carbon fiber and piano-black accents. Standout interior features include an electro-chromatic full-glass roof, a floating cockpit design, concealed cupholders and displays, atmospheric lighting, and intuitive ergonomics that reveal controls only when needed.

Karma plans to begin production in the fourth quarter of 2026, with an estimated starting price of around US $200,000. This launch aligns with the company’s broader strategic shift toward high-performance, ultra-luxury EREV models—including the upcoming Gyesera coupé and Kaveya super-coupé.
