Lumax Auto Technologies Limited (LATL) has officially inaugurated its new technology centre in Bengaluru, named the “Smart Hub for Innovation and Future Trends” (SHIFT). This move is a key part of Lumax’s strategy to become a more advanced technology partner in the automotive sector, particularly as the industry moves towards software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
The SHIFT Innovation Hub is designed to function as a nucleus for research, product development and digital transformation. It will focus on electronics, mechatronics and digital engineering, enabling Lumax to offer next-generation mobility solutions incorporating connectivity, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and smart in-cab experiences.
An event featuring senior figures from major auto-OEMs—including Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, Hero MotoCorp, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and TVS Motor Company—underlined Lumax’s established relationships in India’s automotive ecosystem and its ambition to scale up innovation.
According to Managing Director Anmol Jain, the SHIFT centre is a major step towards the company’s “Tier 0.5” vision, enhancing its capabilities in electronics, mechatronics and digital systems. He emphasised that Bengaluru’s vibrant technological environment provides an ideal foundation for Lumax’s transformation into a smarter and more connected mobility solutions provider.
The hub comes equipped with advanced facilities for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, rapid prototyping and product validation. This means Lumax will be able to take innovations from concept to commercialisation faster, helping it stay competitive as vehicles become increasingly software-centric and electrified.
With the SHIFT Innovation Hub now operational, Lumax is reinforcing India’s role in the global automotive innovation landscape. By merging talent, technology and transformation, the company is preparing to engineer vehicles that are not only mechanically strong but digitally intelligent, connected and sustainable.
