JSW MG Motor India is preparing for a major product expansion in 2026 with four new SUVs, the company said as it pushes into its next growth phase in the Indian market. This lineup will include one plug-in hybrid model, underlining the brand’s strategy to broaden its vehicle offerings and embrace cleaner technology.
The first of these four launches will be the much-anticipated premium SUV MAJESTOR, which is expected to reach showrooms in April–May this year. The Majestor is aimed at competing with strong rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner in the full-size SUV segment, reflecting MG’s effort to strengthen its presence among larger SUV buyers.
The remaining three SUVs scheduled for launch later in the calendar year will be new-energy vehicles (NEVs), and one of them has been confirmed as a plug-in hybrid. These vehicles are part of MG’s push to offer more environmentally-conscious options in a market that is gradually shifting toward electrified powertrains.
According to Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra, three of the new models will be sold through MG’s regular retail channels, while one will be offered via the premium ‘MG Select’ network — a specialized sales channel aimed at higher-end buyers.
As part of its five-year growth roadmap, MG Motor India also plans to significantly expand production capacity and localised manufacturing. The company’s Halol plant in Gujarat currently produces about 1.2 lakh units annually but MG aims to raise this figure to around 3 lakh units, a move that is expected to take roughly 18 months to complete.
Mehrotra added that MG is looking at capital investments between ₹4,000 crore and ₹5,000 crore targeting plant expansion, new product development and localisation efforts. He also noted that the passenger vehicle market is likely to see double-digit growth this year, and electric vehicles share is expected to rise as consumer interest grows.
