Montra Electric, the clean mobility arm of the Murugappa Group’s TI Clean Mobility, has introduced the Rhino 5538 EV 4×2 TT, India’s largest electric truck. The launch took place at their eM&HCV manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana, marking a significant step in the nation’s electric freight sector.

Innovative Battery Swapping System Enhances Efficiency

A standout feature of the Rhino 5538 EV is its advanced battery swapping technology, allowing for a full battery exchange in under six minutes—substantially reducing downtime compared to traditional charging methods. The automated system, designed with a 7+1 configuration, can handle over 160 swaps per day, supporting large fleet operations efficiently.

Robust Performance Tailored for Indian Roads

The Rhino 5538 EV is equipped with a 282 kWh LFP battery, delivering 380 horsepower and 2000 Nm of torque. It offers a range of approximately 198 km per charge under standard test conditions. Designed for Indian operating conditions, the truck features a 6-speed AMT transmission, a robust chassis frame, and compatibility with multiple trailer types.

Strategic Pricing and Support for Fleet Operators

The fixed-battery variant of the Rhino 5538 EV is priced at ₹1.15 crore (ex-factory). Montra Electric offers a 10-year/9 lakh km AMC contract, ensuring 95% uptime, advanced telematics, and customized financing solutions to support fleet operators in adopting this sustainable solution.

Empowering Women in the EV Industry

In a significant move towards inclusivity, Montra Electric inaugurated India’s first all-women monitored Automated Battery Plant. The facility also features a new conveyor line integrated with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), enhancing efficiency, safety, and reliability in production processes.

Montra Electric’s Commitment to Sustainable Mobility

With the launch of the Rhino 5538 EV and the introduction of battery swapping technology, Montra Electric is addressing key barriers to commercial EV adoption. The company aims to make clean mobility reliable, seamless, and economically viable, accelerating India’s transition to sustainable logistics.
