Nissan has officially launched the 2026 Rogue Plug-In Hybrid vehicle, marking its first-ever plug-in hybrid model for the U.S. market. This move represents a major step in Nissan’s strategy to electrify its lineup.

Built on the same platform as the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV through the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, the Rogue PHEV shares core architecture and its hybrid powertrain with Mitsubishi’s model. Despite the shared roots, Nissan has differentiated the vehicle with its own styling touches, both in the exterior and interior.

The powertrain combines a 2.4-litre gasoline engine with two electric motors, producing a total output of 248 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. The PHEV’s lithium-ion battery pack, rated at about 20 kWh, enables an EPA-estimated 38 miles of pure electric driving.

When operating in hybrid mode, the Rogue PHEV boasts a total driving range of around 420 miles and achieves an efficiency rating of 64 MPGe. Charging the battery via a Level 2 charger takes approximately 7.5 hours.

To suit different driving needs, the SUV offers EV, Save, and Charge drive modes, along with seven terrain/performance settings — including Normal, Power, Eco, Tarmac, Gravel, Snow, and Mud. The regenerative braking system supports a near one-pedal driving feel using Nissan’s “e-Step” function.

Inside, the Rogue PHEV seats up to seven passengers across three rows. Its cabin features a 9-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and optional premium features such as a 10-inch head-up display, quilted leather upholstery, and a Bose audio system. Safety and driver-assistance equipment includes ProPILOT Assist, a 360-degree Around View Monitor, blind-spot intervention, and intelligent forward collision warning.

The introduction of the 2026 Rogue PHEV underscores Nissan’s strengthened push into electrification under its “Re:Nissan” strategy. The new model is expected to be available at U.S. dealerships in early 2026, following its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
