Pacific Energy has secured a major 81 MWh battery energy storage project in Australia’s Northern Territory, marking a significant step toward strengthening clean energy infrastructure. The project, with a capacity of 33.5 MW / 81 MWh, is designed to enhance grid stability and support the growing integration of renewable energy across the region.

The contract has been awarded by Territory Generation, the government-owned utility responsible for electricity supply in the Northern Territory. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize the power system and increase the share of renewable energy, especially solar, in Australia’s energy mix.

Pacific Energy will be responsible for the full delivery of the project, including system design, engineering, installation, and commissioning. The battery storage systems will be deployed at key locations such as Alice Springs and Katherine, ensuring reliable power supply in both remote and regional areas.

The battery energy storage system will play a vital role in maintaining grid stability by providing essential services like frequency control and voltage support. This will help reduce power disruptions while enabling higher penetration of renewable energy into the grid.

With an investment of over $80 million, the project highlights a strong commitment to sustainable energy development in the Northern Territory. It is expected to improve energy security, lower reliance on fossil fuels, and support long-term economic growth in the region.

Additionally, Pacific Energy will provide a 10-year service and maintenance agreement, ensuring long-term performance and reliability of the system. This project further strengthens the company’s position as a key player in delivering advanced and sustainable energy solutions across Australia.
