Patanjali Ayurved, renowned for its contributions to India’s FMCG and healthcare sectors, has ventured into the electric vehicle (EV) industry. The company recently introduced an electric scooter boasting a remarkable 440-kilometer range, priced at an astonishing ₹14,000. This move signifies Patanjali’s commitment to providing sustainable and affordable transportation solutions to the Indian populace.

The newly launched electric scooter is equipped with a removable lithium-ion battery, which fully charges in approximately 3 to 4 hours. Weighing between 75 to 80 kilograms, the scooter achieves a top speed of 60 km/h. Safety features include both front and rear drum brakes. Consumers can choose from a variety of colors, including white, blue, grey, and black.

Patanjali’s entry into the EV market is strategically aimed at mass-market consumers, particularly daily commuters in small towns seeking affordable and reliable transportation. The scooter’s lightweight design makes it especially appealing to women and students. Additionally, environmentally conscious individuals looking to reduce their carbon footprint may find this offering attractive.

Despite the impressive specifications, some industry experts have raised questions regarding the claimed 440-kilometer range, as most electric scooters in the market offer ranges between 100 to 200 kilometers. Patanjali has yet to provide detailed specifications or independent test results to substantiate this claim.

Currently, Patanjali has not released official information regarding booking procedures or delivery timelines. However, the company has indicated plans for a phased rollout, beginning with pilot cities in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Pre-bookings are expected to be available through authorized Patanjali outlets, with an online registration option via a dedicated mobile application forthcoming.

Patanjali’s foray into the electric vehicle sector marks a significant diversification of its product portfolio. By offering an affordable and potentially high-range electric scooter, the company aims to make sustainable transportation accessible to a broader segment of the Indian population. As the EV market in India continues to evolve, Patanjali’s latest offering could play a pivotal role in shaping consumer choices and driving the adoption of eco-friendly vehicles.
