In a significant development for India’s clean mobility ambitions, PMI Electro Mobility Solutions has announced a ₹1,200 crore investment to establish a new electric-vehicle manufacturing facility in the state of Rajasthan. The project will be located at the Ghiloth Industrial Area, Neemrana tehsil, along the Delhi–Jaipur national highway, covering about 65.56 acres of land already allotted for the purpose.
The hub will assemble electric buses and also manufacture critical components such as bus bodies, electric motors, batteries and wire harnesses. Under the terms of the agreement signed during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investor Summit in December 2024, PMI will utilise the allocated land through Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and bring the facility into operation in phases.
When fully operational, the facility is projected to have an annual production capacity of around 33,000 units, including electric buses, medium commercial vehicles (MCVs) and light commercial vehicles (LCVs). The land allocated for the project spans roughly 2,65,329 square metres (65.56 acres) with a land cost estimated at around ₹208 crore.
The state government welcomed the announcement, noting that the investment will not only strengthen the region’s EV manufacturing ecosystem but also generate significant employment opportunities. The direct and indirect job creation is expected to benefit the local youth and also support development of the local supply chain for e-mobility components. In his remarks, Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, stated that the project aligns with the national “Make in India” vision and positions Rajasthan as a key EV manufacturing hub.
From an industry vantage point, the investment underscores growing momentum in India’s electric-vehicle manufacturing base, especially in the commercial-vehicle and bus segments. With component manufacturing, assembly and localisation being emphasised, projects like this serve as enablers for the broader EV ecosystem. For Rajasthan, this commitment may help attract ancillary industries, bolster infrastructure and strengthen its competitiveness in clean mobility.
In summary, the PMI Electro Mobility Solutions plant marks a strategic milestone for both the company and Rajasthan merging large-scale investment, manufacturing capacity, employment thrust and ecosystem building into one project. As work progresses, the hub is poised to become a flagship facility in India’s accelerating e-mobility landscape.
