The South Central Railway (SCR) intends to construct new EV charging stations at various locations throughout the Secunderabad division as a means of generating income from the underutilized and vacant lands.
Even though Kacheguda and Hyderabad (Nampally) railway stations already have charging stations, it is currently planning to install comparable charging stations in vacant areas at MMTS stations as well.

The EV charging station at Kacheguda, which was installed about two years ago, has been inactive for a while. In the coming months, officials hope to start it up by hiring new contractors. However, the Hyderabad railway station’s EV station is currently operational and capable of charging at least 25 electric vehicles on a daily average.

Despite initially considering Secunderabad Railway Station, according to SCR authorities, they now plan to set up EV charge points at Bowenpally due to the rapid pace of development taking place there.

In the year 2023, it is anticipated that EV stations will be installed at the MMTS railway stations at Lingampalli, Hitec City, Necklace Road (PVNR Marg), Sanjeeviah Park, Lakadi-ka-pul, and Ghatkesar. The earliest that these could start working is now.

On the other hand, the SCR also intends to make the best use of its undeveloped land in the nearby districts and city suburbs. As part of this, EV charge points will be installed on railroad properties that have been sitting vacant at the railway stations in Moula Ali, Medchal, Tellapur, Umdanagar, and Falaknuma.
