Raipur Municipal Corporation will introduce electric buses in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur to combat traffic pollution. Officials stated that ten electric buses will be purchased initially. A decision to purchase additional buses will be made based on practicality.

RMC’s extra commissioner is Sunil Kumar Chandravanshi. He stated that under the ambitious government strategy to encourage electric vehicles, ten electric buses would be purchased. In this regard, a tender has already been issued.

Chandravanshi added that after the tendering process is completed and the winner has been selected, the bus will have to be delivered within three months.

According to the officer’s assessment, these buses are expected to play a major role in reducing vehicular emissions. This will also help to reduce the cost of diesel. The buses will be powered by electricity only, eliminating noise and pollution. Electric buses will replace diesel buses as soon as they become popular.

MIC member and chairman at RMC, Ajit Kukreja said that the 10 electric buses would be purchased for Rs 12 crore. The air pollution caused by petrol and diesel is expected to increase in the future. Everyone is aware of this issue. He added that speed charging stations, costing around Rs 2 crore, will be installed throughout the city.

Ajit Kukreja, MIC member and chairman of RMC, stated that the 10 electric buses would be purchased for Rs 12 crore. The pollution created by petrol and diesel is anticipated to worsen in the future. Everyone is aware of the problem. He went on to say that speed charging stations, which will cost roughly Rs 2 crore, will be built throughout the city.

Kukreja stated that the corporation would follow in the footsteps of Chandigarh and give the buses to the firm that will purchase them. He further stated that a certain percentage of the revenue generated by the sale of the buses will be paid to RMC as a royalty.

Kukreja stated that in the second phase, 40 buses would be purchased, and all existing buses, whether diesel or gasoline-powered, would be withdrawn off the roadways.
