In a strategic move to promote sustainable transportation, Renault Group and Iberdrola España have partnered to make electric vehicles (EVs) more accessible in Spain. This collaboration introduces an €800 discount for customers trading in combustion-engine vehicles for new EVs from Renault Group brands, including Renault, Dacia, and Alpine. This incentive complements existing public subsidies, aiming to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility across the country.

The €800 discount is facilitated through an Energy Savings Certificate managed by Iberdrola España. Customers must demonstrate the replacement of a combustion vehicle with an electric one to qualify. This initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and lower transportation-related emissions, which currently account for a significant portion of Spain’s carbon footprint.

Beyond consumer incentives, Renault and Iberdrola have committed to decarbonizing Renault’s manufacturing operations in Spain and Portugal. Under a long-term agreement, Iberdrola will supply 100% renewable electricity to Renault’s facilities. The partnership also includes projects focused on heat electrification, energy efficiency, on-site renewable energy generation, and the reuse of EV batteries for energy storage.

This collaboration aligns with Renault’s “Renaulution” strategic plan, which targets a 50% reduction in global plant emissions by 2030. Iberdrola’s role encompasses not only energy provision but also the implementation of advanced technologies to optimize energy consumption and support Renault’s sustainability goals.

Iberdrola has been a pioneer in promoting electric mobility in Spain, operating over 8,500 public charging points powered by 100% renewable energy. The company also offers competitive electric charging tariffs, enabling drivers to travel 1,000 km for approximately five euros. This extensive infrastructure supports the growing demand for EVs and complements the incentives provided through the Renault partnership.

The Renault-Iberdrola alliance exemplifies a comprehensive approach to sustainable transportation, addressing both consumer adoption and industrial decarbonization. By combining financial incentives with clean energy solutions, the partnership aims to facilitate a significant shift towards electric mobility and contribute to broader environmental objectives.
