RREC Seeks EoI for EV Charging Stations Under PM E-DRIVE

The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) has issued an Expression of Interest (EoI) to invite bids from qualified charge point operators to establish electric vehicle public charging stations across the state under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, a national initiative by the Ministry of Heavy Industries to build a robust EV charging network across India.

The move aims to accelerate the deployment of public EV charging infrastructure in Rajasthan by leveraging financial support under Category C of the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, which focuses on accessible charging stations in high-footfall locations such as highways, commercial areas, and city streets.

Under the scheme, participating charge point operators (CPOs) will be eligible for subsidy support covering up to 80 percent of upstream infrastructure costs — including transformers, cabling, switchgear and civil works. However, the cost of the charging hardware itself must be fully borne by the operators.

RRECL has been appointed as the state nodal agency responsible for collecting and verifying proposals, and forwarding eligible applications to the Ministry of Heavy Industries for evaluation and subsidy approval. The agency will coordinate with applicants throughout the process, but the final decision on financial assistance will rest with the Ministry.

To qualify, CPOs must meet specific eligibility criteria, including a proven track record of operating at least 10 public fast-charging stations in India with chargers of minimum 30 kW capacity, and ownership of a central management system supporting real-time monitoring. Applicants must also propose publicly accessible mobile applications for users.
