Sahaj Solar has approved plans to establish a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility with a planned capacity of 1.8 GWh at Dakor, Gujarat. The project marks the company’s expansion into battery energy storage manufacturing beyond its existing solar energy business.

The company plans to develop the facility within 12 months, with an estimated investment of ₹25 crore. The investment will be financed through a combination of debt and internal accruals, according to the company’s announcement.

The estimated investment excludes the cost of the factory premises, which have already been constructed. The proposed facility will focus on manufacturing battery energy storage systems, with the planned capacity representing Sahaj Solar’s entry into this business segment.

Sahaj Solar intends to serve both domestic and international markets through the proposed facility. The company aims to strengthen vertical integration within its existing solar systems business by adding battery energy storage solutions to its operations.

Battery Energy Storage Systems store electricity for use at a later time. They can support renewable energy installations by helping manage variations in electricity generation and making stored power available when required. The specific applications of Sahaj Solar’s planned products have not been detailed in the available announcement.

The proposed 1.8 GWh facility and associated BESS product launch are planned within a 12-month period. Through this investment, Sahaj Solar aims to expand its product portfolio and establish a presence in the battery energy storage market while serving customers in India and overseas.
